While playing a silly scavenger game dizzy socialite Irene Bullock (Carole Lombard) finds homeless Godfrey (William Powell) and ends up offering him a job as the family butler.  Its the middle of the Great Depression and Godfrey finds the Bullocks to be entitled and self-absorbed but they are heading for a downfall and Godfrey may be the only one to save them.
